Bummer, but if the info isn't carried in the stream, it can't be interpreted by Nicecast and therefore not my Squeezebox Server. Second, when you stream the URL (under Internet Radio/Tune-in URL in Squeezebox Server) you will not see any detail of what's being streamed as you do in the browser interface for Accuradio. If you need this functionality, think of it as a one-time investment. On the other hand, it's simple to set up and, at least for me, works. I didn't see a PC version of the software on their website. In my case, I just redirected the audio from Firefox.įor the record, I'm on a Mac running Lion. You can either redirect your sound card or just one application. It works like a charm to get the audio stream from your computer to your Squeeze/Slim device. (Google on Nicecast and you'll find it.) It's software that, essentially, allows you to create your own radio channel for broadcasting to the world over the Internet, but you can also limit it to just your local network. I did some research and found software called Nicecast from Rogue Amoeba that does this perfectly. On the other hand, I can access all of their programming via a browser on my computer and play it, so the dilemma I had was how to get that stream to my Squeezebox. I am a fan of Accuradio, but the plug-in for it in Squeezebox Server is very limited in the choices of channels it offers.
